Skirting the Issue is About to Begin

Every July over at Simple Simon and Company and Project Run and Play Elizabeth and I host an annual event called "Skirting the Issue".
In the past it has been focused mainly on sewing skirts to donate to foster care closets for the girls to have just in time for back to school.  (Last year we had almost 600 skirts made and donated to local charities!)
Skirts for foster care will still be part of Skirting the Issue this year but there will also be several other handmade items (along with tutorials) that can be made and donated as well.  We will also be providing a list of charities that are collecting the items we will sharing.  (That way you can find one that is dear to your heart.)
Again this year there will be fun prizes for those who sew along with us and here on Project Sewn we've lined up some great ladies to share a few tutorials with all of us.
All the details and information you'll need for Skirting the Issue will be posted here on Monday.
Skirting the Issue is the highlight of my year and I am ready to get started!
See you Monday!

  1. Liz,

I love the idea of a sewing project for foster kids. My daughters attend catholic school and need to complete service hours every year. Is there any way that I could hold this as a school event with several girls sewing and earning hours?

    1. Could you email me some more details about this project? My school is very picky about which charities count (pretty silly but not my rules), so would there be anyway to validate the project?
