Fall Fashion Trend with Alida from Alida Makes

Today our fall fashion trend comes from our great friend Alida of Alida Makes.  She even took this lastest fashion trend and made a wearable version for herself....wowza!!!

Thanks Alida for joining us today!!!

Y'all, I have a secret. I'm kind of obsessed...with jumpsuits!  They were a huge trend for Spring and Summer and are still going strong.  Here's what I love about jumpsuits: they are effortlessly chic.

I love the look of layering with a jumpsuit, the Rachel Zoe look above is a great example.  If you think of a jumpsuit like a maxi dress and layer and accessorize accordingly, you can really come up with some fun looks.

I love the way jumpsuits look on the catwalk, but I really wanted to know how they look on a curvy mom of 4, so I made one!  This is McCall Pattern 6083.  I made it out of rayon knit and it feels like wearing pajamas!

Here I layered it with a cardigan, but it looks great with my black blazer and black kitten heels.  I think it would look cute with a turtleneck underneath, or a button up shirt buttoned and tied at the waist.  Oh the possibilities!

There are so many scarves, hats, and layers to try on with this piece, I'm pretty excited for it to get cold outside!  For now a light infinity scarf on it's own is going to have to do.

Or all on it's own.

I know jumpsuits are kind of a love it or hate it thing, what's your take on them?

  1. I know this is kind of a silly question, but how do you feel about using public restrooms in jumpsuits?
This summer I really wanted to buy or make a short jumpsuit because -as you said- they are effortlessly chic and you can get dressed in no time.

But then I read somewhere about how non-practical they can be. I think I would feel pretty -erm- naked with a jumpsuit in a restroom cubicle...
I guess I'd just be able to wear them on weekends when I'm at a friend's or relative's house...
That being said, I really like the concept of jumpsuits anyway ;)

    Love,
    Marie

    1. Hi Marie! It doesn't really bother me, but then again it also doesn't bother me to change in the locker room at the gym so I guess I'm not shy ;-)

  4. I had a jumpsuit years ago (like 15 years ago) and loved it! But now that I'm older, I'm not so sure I could pull it off. You look amazing in it though, and the blue color is so striking with your hair!

    1. I love the printed chiffon ones I've been seeing on the runway but I'm not sure I can pull them off. I think the next one will be black, because although I love this color I think the black would be more slimming.

  11. That is looking all sorts of fierce! I have that pattern in my stash, but couldn't muster up the courage to tackle it... I think your blue version might be giving me the push I needed! Would you have any tips, tricks or recommendations for fabric when using this pattern?

  14. I adore jumpers, but they are almost never flattering. I've heard guys call it diaper crotch in the front or long butt in the back! *rolls eyes* I think they are so much fun though! I have a white knit that I'm waiting to dye a great color and turn into a fantastic jumper of my own.
