Meet the Designer: Adrianna from Crafterhours
Hi there! I'm Adrianna and I blog with Susan over at Crafterhours. We've been blogging for 4 years now and we each have three daughters. Like most of you, I got into sewing because I quit my J.O.B. when I had my first kid and in my sleep deprived and simultaneous bored and stressed out state I figured it was a good time to buy a sewing machine and start making garments for my hapless infant. Luckily for her it was a hobby that ended up sticking (unlike knitting. And grad school.) and I got better at it. Now she and her sisters receive the fruits of my sewing machine which are hopefully starting to look more professional in the 6 years I've been doing this. One year ago, I opened my pattern shop, Hey June. It's been a great outlet for me because I love to sew, but I also really love the technical side of pattern drafting and digital drawing. And maybe it'll help me avoid getting another J.O.B. when my youngest goes to school! I enjoy sewing for myself but it happens very infrequently, so this competition was a perfect excuse. I prefer simple garments that work with my stay-at-home, carpooling, grocery shopping, toddler-chasing, stain-cleaning-upping, wall-writing-scrubbing-offing life. It's tempting to go full on runway when you're in a competition, but I'm excited to try and step outside my sewing comfort box while still staying true to myself and the life I'm in right now.
