Meet the Designer: Melissa from The Polka Dot Chair

hawaii-44

Hello! My name is Melissa Mortenson and I blog at the Polka Dot Chair. I am so excited to be joining this season of Project Sewn. I have been sewing seriously for over 25 years but admit that I don't ever sew clothing for myself. I love to sew quilts, bags, children's clothing and accessories... but not adult clothing.

In my teens and twenties I loved making clothing for myself! I even made a tailored dress shirt once and competed in a sewing competition (any other Make it Yourself with Wool alums out there?) However as I grew older the challenge of fitting clothing to my changing frame became to great and I gave it up for other types of sewing.

I admit that I have made ONE item of clothing for myself since I was 20. Project Sewn is going to pose quite the challenge for me, but one that I am happy to take on! Here's to trying new things!!! (fingers crossed *wink*)
