Skirting the Issue is About to Begin

Every July over at Simple Simon and Company and Project Run and Play Elizabeth and I host an annual event called "Skirting the Issue".
In the past it has been focused mainly on sewing skirts to donate to foster care closets for the girls to have just in time for back to school.  (Last year we had almost 600 skirts made and donated to local charities!)
Skirts for foster care will still be part of Skirting the Issue this year but there will also be several other handmade items (along with tutorials) that can be made and donated as well.  We will also be providing a list of charities that are collecting the items we will sharing.  (That way you can find one that is dear to your heart.)
Again this year there will be fun prizes for those who sew along with us and here on Project Sewn we've lined up some great ladies to share a few tutorials with all of us.
All the details and information you'll need for Skirting the Issue will be posted here on Monday.
Skirting the Issue is the highlight of my year and I am ready to get started!
See you Monday!

Choose an Icon: The Hepburns---Audrey & Katharine

Two of my favorite fashion icons are:
Audrey Hepburn
Katharine Hepburn
Contemporaries of each other both Audrey and Katharine had very defined styles that changed the fashion world.  While both women limited their style to simple shapes and solid color palettes they were very different from one another.
Audrey was chic and elegant, but also girlish and adorable in her iconic dresses and over sized sunglasses.
Katharine was also chic but powerful and rebellious sporting wide legged trousers and men's shirts in an era of skirts and dresses.
Both women were beautiful and their style flawless.  I look to both of them as examples of "less is more in design" as well as how to create a style that is authentic and genuine.
So the question of the day is this:
Which style do you tend to gravitate towards?
Audrey's or Katharine's?
If it came down to a vote who's look would you pick?
(Or are you like me and love both of them too much to decide?)
Let us know.
(And look for other "Choose and Icon" posts sprinkled into our regular posts...I started with my two favorites but there are soooooo many more to cover!)

Signature Style Sew Along Results...Season 2 Info...and What's Coming Next

Before we get started with all of today's announcements we'd just like to say a big thank you to everyone that has made Project Sewn Season One so much fun.
*Our designers were FANTASTIC.  Their different styles and mad sewing skills (along with their great photographs) made each week fabulous.
*All you women who sewed/designed along with us at home and entered the linky party....THANK YOU.  Really.  We appreciate you.  Your styles, skills, post, and input add depth and variety to each week that we would not have had without you.
*Everyone who stopped by, commented, followed along, and voted.  We need to thank you too.  Over the past few years we have found some of the kindest, most supportive people out here in the sewing community.  Thank you for sharing your time, talent, and thoughts with us.
And now....
On to the announcements.
First of all our winner, with the most votes, for our sew along week 4 is:
Congratulations Jillian.
For winning this week you will receive $35 from Michael Levine's online fabric store.

(They have some fantastic knits right now!!!!) for Season will start in October...and the ladies we have lined up are INCREDIBLE!!!!  (And the weekly themes aren't too shabby either---I think it will be impossible for me not to sew along with season 2).
Now, just because Season 2 isn't starting until October, don't think things will be quiet around here.  From now until then we have some wonderful guest posts lined up for you with sewing and fashion advice as well as our (Simple Simon and Company) Skirting the Issue Event that is coming up in July, some great giveaways, and a whole lot more!

Stay tuned......
