Love it or Leave it: The High Low

Ahhhh...the High Low (or the Hi Low....heaven knows I've seen it spelled both ways)....

It's been everywhere.  On shirts, skirts, and dresses...and it just keeps coming....we are only a millisecond away from a new wave of mullet love...but what do you really think?

Is it fashion gold?  Or the kind of garments that embarrassing fashion folklore is made of?

  1. My McCall's 6553 dress has a hi-low hem and I love it. BUT it's a rather discreet one. And I have to admit I don't like the exagerrated ones, like the one pictured.

  2. I still love it. Especially since it elongates my legs.. must wear heels though. High low and flats? naw

  3. LEAVE IT. I'm so ready for this trend to be over. I hated it the moment I saw it and I still hate it. AWFUL.

  4. I am on the fence about it. In a maxi with just a hint of the highlow...it's okay, practical even ( I am a trip hazzard) but on the shorter lengths.....no thank you

  5. In the immortal words of Karl Lagerfeld, "Trendy is the stage before tacky." Every dress I saw with the high/low looked awful. Karl hit it on the head.

  7. Totally hate it. No. Just no. It's definitely the mullet of women's fashion. Please make it stop!

  8. I love it. Love love love it. Sadly, I think the trend is already dying out and I will have to chop all the lows off my high lows next Spring:(

  9. I love a subtle high low, like in a tunic so that successfully covers your bottom haha! That's really functional talk! I do love the look of the one like the picture above but I'm not sure it looks great on me :/
I bet when I looks at pictures of myself wearing things like that in about 10 years, I will laugh but that's what fashion always is. We don't necessarily dress better today than we did in the 80's or 90's (my pics from the early 2000 are all mid-drift ha!) but right now we just like it better!

  10. you know... I respect people using it. but I reaaaally don't like it.
This is a trend I believe will become tacky soon enough. (referring to your last post). It really does relate to mullets, doesn't it?

  11. A trend way past it's time. My daughter loved her high low dress I made in 2012, but won't wear it anymore even though I made it from the prettiest galaxy print silk. So much for sewing trendy stuff!
